  Introduction

This course is an introduction to Human Resource tasks such as, recruitment, appraisal and development of the workforce that managers may find themselves responsible for. The course focuses on the recruitment of new staff, the legal responsibilities of an employer, training and development of the workforce, performance reviews and appraisals, disciplinary policy and finishing employment.

Who should attend:

Managers who wish to understand the basic principles of good HR management and who may be required to take responsibility for this area.

Course outcomes:

Delegates will have an understanding of the legal framework within which they will need to operate if they have the responsibility for Human Resource. They will also understand the need to develop robust systems and procedures in areas such as,

  • Recruitment and interview

  • Staff Induction

  • Disciplinary and Grievance procedure

  • Staff Handbook

  • Training, development and appraisal

Teaching methods:

There will be a mixture of theoretical input from the tutor along with experiential learning and group discussion.
