Motivational Skills

Introduction

What makes different people tick? Are other people motivated by the same things as you? Do you understand what motivates one individual and how to motivate the whole team? Motivating people effectively requires the setting of clear objectives, having the ability to read and understand people and the capability to provide support, coaching and mentoring to your team.

Delegates will learn practical and proven ways to identify the different personalities within the team, how to motivate them individually and as a group to achieve outstanding results.

Who should attend:

Supervisors, team leaders and managers who wish to obtain the best results from their teams.

Course outcomes:

Delegates will gain an understanding of personality types, team roles and the differing factors that motivate individuals. Exercises provide practical experience of the effects on motivation of getting the basics right, communicating effectively and "reading" people correctly. Practical examples of the effect of poor motivation are also identified.

Delegates will also be introduced to the theoretical models of Maslow, Hertzberg and McGregor as well as look at the practical applications in the workplace.

Teaching methods:

There will be a mixture of theoretical input from the tutor along with opportunities for experiential learning, and practice and discussion in small and large groups.
