Introduction
Vision, clear focus and direction make things happen. Successful
leaders have excellent communication, motivation and team building
skills. They successfully identify a preferred style of leadership
but are able to adapt to other styles when appropriate.
This course will develop your individual style of leadership, look
at the personal qualities that make leaders stand out, highlight
the importance of a clear direction and vision and provide practical
help and support. We also focus on leadership in complex and changing
situations, where making things happen requires highly developed
leadership skills.
The course also introduces the concepts of knowledge and risk
management as a senior management issue.
Who should attend:
Middle and senior managers who wish to develop their leadership
skills to a high level or a natural progression for delegates who
have completed the basic skills course.
Course outcomes:
Whilst you will be familiar with your personal leadership style
and the concept of situational leadership, this course will focus
on developing these skills to enable you to achieve results. The
effects of organisational culture, changing circumstances and difficult
circumstances are all barriers to effective leadership. The course
allows you to practice your techniques and develop strategies for
success. Models of risk and knowledge management are also
explored.
Teaching methods:
There will be a
mixture of theoretical input from the tutor along with opportunities
for experiential learning, and practice and discussion in small and
large groups
