Introduction

Managing people in an effective way has become a major focus for many organisations. It makes sense to improve the working environment for your staff (and yourself too!) as this increases the efficiency of your business. Competent supervision by management also makes an important contribution towards cutting stress in the workplace.

This one day course is designed to give managers both new and old some essential techniques in pure people management including ‘How to Motivate your Staff’ and ‘Leading and Inspiring your Staff’.

During the day we will explore a number of case studies showing how some of the great (and not so great!) leaders lead their people. We will use many interactive exercises to get our teaching points across and we will have fun! We will explore your management style and send you away with a number of management tools that will enable you to gain valuable insight into your organisation’s most precious asset – its people.

People who are responsible for managing or leading others.

You will learn:

  • What the principles of team building are

  • Styles of leadership and when they are appropriate

  • What methods can be used for improving the motivation of work teams and individuals

  • How to allocate work effectively

  • How to delegate successfully

Teaching methods:

There will be a mixture of theoretical input from the tutor along with opportunities for experiential learning, and practice and discussion in small and large groups
